New Beginnings
Do you know that feeling when you are on a rollercoaster, all emotions are building up and you feel literally everything? Once you reach the top, you take a breath and then just release all the adrenalin. That’s how we felt for the last couple of weeks when we were settling in.
It has taken lots of time, but the only thing we really had to do was commit our thoughts and energy to Habitual, to our dreams, big or small.
Show up in every single moment like you’re meant to be there
Someone told us once confidence comes with being prepared and so we try to be prepared for everything, we will always try to remember this. Once we feel a lack of confidence, let’s just do the best we can, serve and make things we like ourselves, things we are proud of.
Emily always reminded me that we have both worked in coffee shops for years, so we know what we are doing. We tend to stress out about things once we put our name on it, but once again, if you trust your feelings and believe in your products and you do what you love… it cannot end up badly.
We would not be able to do all of this without each other and without the support we have got from all of you! It’s important to have people who believe in you.
It would be unbelievably difficult without the trust and joy we have received from our friends, family, and other businesses. Therefore we would like to take the opportunity and once again say THANK YOU!
Last week we had our first soft opening. A few nights before, we cooked, baked, and tasted everything we were about to introduce. We felt pretty wiped out but excited at the same time. It feels like we can share with you our passion, love for gastronomy and once you showed your faces it was a ruptured dam of love.
We had time to engage with new people, meet new faces, talk about who we are and what we want to do. These people are part of our journey now, we are in it together. We can drink coffee together, eat cake and get lost in time by having conversations about anything.
Struggles
Of course, we struggled with loads of things, that’s just what comes with the job. Like when I made a hundred batch brews or cold brews to find the perfect balance, dreamt about it for weeks, waking up in the middle of the night and dreaming about coffee leaking because a day before the blender jug got stuck at the bottom of our smoothie maker and I pushed it too hard that smoothie was everywhere.
A few things didn’t arrive as we planned, and we had to write messages on takeaway cups just the night before due to our stamp getting delayed. P.S big thank you to our friend Marieka for her lovely handwriting!
In the beginning you will always find something that sends you off the rails, but nothing that you could not make fun of or fix last minute.
It is a learning process and it will always be what you make of it. Just put glitter on it! We learn from day one, and knowing it’s a never-ending story will always give you space to improve!
Good Days
Let’s hope and do our best to mostly have good days, serve coffee with a smile, bake buns with love, and make sandwiches with care. It will take some time, a good amount of energy and in the back of our minds we will always have the fear, but at the end of the day it is the life we choose and we want to do what we love the most.
